Rio Mavuba

Rio Antonio Mavuba, French international footballer, was born on March 8, 1984 at sea in a canoe. Fleeing the Angolan civil war, then refugee in France and stateless until the age of 20, Rio Mavuba acquired French nationality in 2005. He was the emblematic captain of LOSC Lille from 2009 to 2017. His preferred position is Midfielder. He ended his career in 2018, and became a consultant for all of the Altice France group’s channels, in particular RMC Sport.

Les orphelins de makala

The Charity Les Orphelins de Makala was created by Rio Mavuba in 2009. This is an association whose main mission is to welcome and help orphans from Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of Congo). The association currently allows 32 orphans to have attention and education, to go to school, to pass a diploma to hope for a better life. The former player is involved in conferences, travel, evenings, and visits to orphans. The association aims to open reception centers in other countries.
